frances f. morast walk to beat ovarian cancer
Organized by Karla Morast Psaros in memory of her mother, Frances Morast, the Walk to Beat Ovarian Cancer is an annual event that takes place in September in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Frances was a schoolteacher in Bridgewater and lived in the town for most of her life. She was very active in the community, serving on the town board and was always fundraising for the school system. She was very well-known in the community and was loved by her students. Frances lost her battle with ovarian cancer in September 2007.
When Karla contacted Ovations, she wanted the money raised by this three-mile walk to benefit research for ovarian cancer and raise awareness of the symptoms of the disease. The walk has been a huge success over the past few years, raising over $95,000!
lois e. (girard) strand memorial golf tournament
Now in its fifth consecutive year, the Lois E. (Girard) Strand Memorial Golf Tournament raises funds for ovarian cancer research and awareness. Lois E. (Girard) Strand passed away in July 2007 from ovarian cancer, and her courage and strength were something to be proud of. Each year, a local country club graciously provides us with a great course and excellent food to help commemorate Lois's memory and give back to the community.
volley for molly
Organized between Lexington High School and Ovations, Volley for Molly is an annual volleyball game in rememberance of Molly Eisenberg and her courageous fight against ovarian cancer. Molly, a Lexington High graduate and Varsity volleyball star, lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2009, at the age of 19.
Over the past few years, Volley for Molly has gained tremendous local support, collectively raising over $48,000 for ovarian cancer research, awareness and patient programs!
w.a.r. against ovarian cancer
The annual W.A.R. (Walk And Run) Against Ovarian Cancer is a family-friendly walk through Wellesley, starting at the Morses Pond Recreation Park. This 3-mile walk/run draws support from all the surrounding towns and has proven to be a wonderful success over the past four years, raising more than $84,000 for Ovations!
hanf memorial golf tournament
Carol Hanf passed away seven years ago from ovarian cancer, and her fighting spirit still lives in her daughters, Alyson and Ashley, who annually host the Carol Hanf Memorial Golf Tournament. This Florida-style, all-day golfing event is in its third successful year, continually gaining support from participants and sponsors alike.
molly mcgaffigan lacrosse games for ovarian cancer
Molly McGaffigan was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 15. Since then, she has turned her own experience into a mission to spread awareness, working closely with Ovations to let women of all ages know the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer. In recognition of her continued support, Ovations awarded Molly the Awareness Award at their 2009 Night of the Monarch gala.
This year marks the third annual lacrosse game in honor of Molly. Over the past few years, her high school—Bishop Guertin—and Souhegan High School played in a competitive match, wearing teal and white uniforms to support ovarian cancer awareness. This year, Molly's college—Saint Anselm—will play Franklin Pierce College and promote ovarian cancer awareness with teal sweat bands and awareness brochures.
